The NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS) is recruiting a cohort of 500 Trainees to the Scheme to meet the future demand for leaders in the NHS.

Unlike previous years we are running virtual assessment centre dates since November 2020 through to September 2021, offering flexibility to both candidates and assessors.

We are welcome NHS colleagues to support as a volunteer GMTS Assessor.

If you are interested please e-mail at graduateassessors@leadershipacademy.nhs.uk

Further information is detailed below.

What is a GMTS Assessor?

Your role as a volunteer GMTS assessor is to help us identify the best of our applicants to become Trainees for the September 2021 / March 2022 intake. We ask that Assessors are at NHS Band 7 minimum.

The virtual assessment centre aims to reflect a physical assessment centre and will follow a similar format. Your role will be to assess and evaluate the candidates, this could be observing a group exercise or an engagement meeting- on Microsoft Teams- and to then review candidate reflections, record notes and assign a score for each behavior relevant to the competency being assessed. This will all be completed on the new virtual platform.

A GMTS Assessor represents one part of the selection process of candidates hoping to become GMTS Trainees in September 2021 / March 2022. An Assessors’ role is to work to a consistent standard to monitor candidates and to identify the best to become GMTS Trainees; we will provide you with training to do this, or a refresher if you have been a GMTS Assessor before.

How am I trained to be a GMTS Assessor?

All volunteer Assessors are required to undertake a training session from 1.30pm to 4:30pm for before their first assessment. This takes the form of a presentation, test scoring and a video. If you have been an assessor in the last two years with us, you can attend a training session as a refresher.

Training for volunteer Assessors will be delivered online on the following dates:

  1. Thursday 25th February 2021
  2. Monday 15th March 2021

More dates to be added, please let us know if you need training and we will contact with new dates when they become available
