Reset, Reflect and Restart- Health and Wellbeing Webinars

The mental health and wellbeing of our staff is important to us. Growing research demonstrates the importance of mental health and wellbeing in relation to satisfaction and effectiveness at work. Stress, depression, and anxiety are reported as the most common reasons for staff absence. Poor mental health is associated with an increased risk of diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes, while good mental health is a known protective factor. Poor physical health also increases the risk of people developing mental health problems.

After 19 months of sustained, high performance work under unusual pressures, many NHS leaders and teams are feeling overwhelmed, even exhausted. The slip from manageable levels of stress to something more damaging can be so gradual it can easily get missed.

Why is Health and Wellbeing Important in Leadership

Work plays a crucial part in our lives. It can give us a sense of purpose and achievement and boost our self-esteem, as well as an opportunity to socialise and build friendships with our colleagues.

We often spend a substantial amount of our day working, so it’s inevitable that a workplace with high levels of stress and presenteeism can affect someone’s mental health, which can lead to burnout and exhaustion.

Day-to-day working life can be stressful under certain conditions, but stress can be exacerbated by other challenges and life changes e.g.

  • Bereavement
  • Relationship problems
  • Having a baby
  • Debt

All these and many more can be enough to make work more of a struggle than it normally would be.

Every year, people experiencing mental health difficulties lose their jobs at around double the rate of those without a mental health problem and at a much higher rate than those with a physical health condition

Objectives of the webinars

Working can sometimes have a negative effect on our mental health and wellbeing but it can also have a very positive one as well. A supportive, inclusive workplace can help to prevent new mental health and wellbeing problems and support people struggling with their mental health and wellbeing to stay at work and thrive.

Working in Partnership with Unlimited Potential we bring you a series of 6 webinars designed to support your Health and Wellbeing:

Each webinar is designed to address a different aspect of well-being to help you ‘Reset, Reflect and Restart’ after an extremely challenging 18 months. Recovery is very important, but this programme goes beyond simply ‘finding your feet again’. Inevitably, there will be experiences to share, lessons to learn and long-term changes to be implemented in the coming months and years. The aim is to support your recovery whilst also facilitating the process of moving forwards. Further still, these webinars will look at ways to guide and lead your teams and colleagues through the same process.
