Mentor Training

Who is this event aimed at?

Health and care staff who wish to support the development of others through mentoring. Those who attend this training must have registered to provide support via MentorNet

There is an additional session 7 October- participants must commit to attending both sessions.

Mentoring supports an individual or team’s learning, development and performance. It is a successful developmental technique for organisations to use to support individuals to reach their full potential by offering them access to regular and contracted support from another person at work.

The training will focus on the skills, knowledge, tools and techniques to mentor effectively in practice within the NHS.

The material and practical exercises cover the following areas in order to build confidence in mentoring others within the workplace.

Objectives

• Understanding what mentoring is (and what it is not)

• Understanding the context for mentoring and explore the role and responsibilities of the mentor

• Developing your own mentoring skills

• Using process, logs and paperwork to help bring focus to our mentoring

• Using tools and techniques to creatively support and mentor

• To practice mentoring skills and techniques in a range of circumstances
