What to expect in a Workplace Yoga session?

The overall aim is to so some simple practices and exercises with some tips and techniques to practice at work and at home.

We will combine some movement with breathing to feel more relaxed, strong and flexible

No mats are required for this session and participants will not need to get up and down from the floor

In this 30 minute introduction to Yoga we’ll begin with an easy mindfulness practice with the aim of letting go of the effort of thinking. Clearing the mind can be so helpful to boost mental wellbeing. This introduction also allows participants to learn and practice breathing techniques. This is followed by a simple warm up to give opportunities to pay attention to the body and let go of tension in the shoulders, hips and behind the eyes…. All places we hold stress at work

The chosen Yoga postures can be done in a chair, or standing so that those less mobile can participate with ease. Starting with exercises to loosen and soften the wrists – perfect for people to practice at their desks while the hands a re off the keyboard.

A couple of traditional postures will be adapted for the session to drop the shoulders and maintain a good posture and focus the mind for the rest of the afternoon.

The session will conclude with a short relaxation of the mind and body with an opportunity to focus on making the best of the day ahead. .

What are the benefits of Workplace Yoga

At work its easy to fall into a more shallow way of breathing and posture can become poor. Yoga is a great friend to counteract that.
