Coaching CPD – Imposter Syndrome Masterclass

“Imposter Syndrome” is the persistent inability to believe that your own success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved as a result of your own efforts or skills. Individuals with imposter syndrome doubt their own accomplishments and have a persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud.

Early research focused on the prevalence of imposter syndrome in high-achieving women, but it is now recognised to affect both men and women in a wide range of job roles. Anecdotal evidence indicates that it is common within the NHS workforce.

This masterclass aims to equip coaches with the skills, knowledge and experience to effectively coach someone who identifies with the imposter syndrome.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand the key definitions and characteristics of imposter syndrome

  • To become more aware of the types of mindsets and negative impact of the syndrome on a person’s well-being including the impact of personal histories and societal expectations

  • To learn coaching skills and strategies, and acquire new tools to alleviate negative thoughts and feelings

  • To practice the skills, strategies and tools and review how they will be incorporated into future coaching practice
