We are delighted to confirm that we have commissioned a refreshed ILM programme for online delivery.

This opportunity will be of particular benefit to those staff working in HR, L&D, Service Improvement etc., but as coaching aims to support change and effective thinking it is applicable across any area. 

Applications are welcomed from staff in all roles and Bands, but there must be clear demonstration of personal and organisational commitment to support learning and practice. There are no minimum entry requirements, but preference will be given to applicants who have accessed coaching, and/or have attended any non-accredited coaching development (e.g. Introduction to Coaching, in-house coaching development programmes).

Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring

This will run over 26 weeks with learning supported through a combination of online learning, virtual workshops and online group supervision. This programme is aimed at leaders and managers with significant responsibility for coaching and mentoring as part of their day-to-day role.

About the ILM Coaching and Mentoring programme

By completing the ILM Coaching and Mentoring programme you will develop the technical skills and knowledge required for coaching.

It is an opportunity to learn and practice fundamental coaching tools and techniques, and develop an understanding of coaching which will enable you to establish a coaching relationship and coach competently, ethically and with confidence.

How to apply

There are a limited number of places on this cohort so if you would like to apply please submit an application detailing the anticipated benefits for yourself and your organisation. This must include details of your Executive Sponsor, and their comments will form part of the assessment of each application. Your Executive Sponsor does not need to be at Director level, but they must hold budget responsibility for your team or department.

All participants must:

  • Access all online learning materials, and attend all virtual workshops and group supervision
  • Complete written assignments and submit them within agreed timescales.
  • Complete a minimum of 18 hours (ILM5) of formal and contracted coaching and evidence of how you have reflected on your performance. This evidence must be submitted in a reflective portfolio
  • Complete a self-assessment and evidenced assessment analysis of ability as a coach or mentor, and reflections on own performance as a coach or mentor.

Please note that attendance and completion of all elements of this programme is mandatory.

Sponsors are asked to support those participants who are able to commit to attending the full programme and have the support and organisational sponsorship from their line manager to fulfil their ongoing obligation as a NELA coach.

Following completion of the programme there is a requirement that coaches will register and record all coaching activity via the local academy registers, deliver a minimum of four coaching relationships/interventions, and participate in two CPD and Supervision sessions per annum.

Please be aware that we are currently unable to offer ILM 3 through the online format, but this is in development and we are hoping to offer this again within in future cohorts.
