NELA Associate Guidelines

Helping us Deliver Great Leadership Opportunities
Associate Guidelines

At the NHS North East Leadership Academy, we believe that the continuous development of leaders and managers can improve health services for patients and communities. We expect the associates who work with us to conduct their business in a manner consistent with the values and spirit of our own organisation.

Our Associate Guidelines clearly articulate specific minimum standards for all associates who work with us and set out what you can expect in return. Please read the Associate Guidelines document for full details. The key points are summarised below.

We believe that by implementing these guidelines, the Academy and our associates can work together as role models and champions of leadership, who deliver high quality, value for money leadership development opportunities, which are unavailable elsewhere in the NHS.

As an associate you will:

  • Agree sub-contracting in advance
  • Agree specific venue/equipment requirements in advance
  • Agree travel and expenses in advance
  • Avoid any conflict of interest
  • Understand course material intellectual property ownership
  • Provide course information 10 working days before event and delegate materials five working days prior
  • Maintain relevant insurances
  • Notify us no later than 24 hours in advance of any cancellation/sickness (and make alternative arrangements)
  • Be aware that all courses/events may be evaluated for quality

To help you deliver we will:

  • Provide a scheme of work and invoicing schedule to help us to pay you
  • Allocate you a named NELA representative to work with you throughout the contracting process
  • Aim to resolve issues through open dialogue in the unlikely event of a conflict
